Brian Grubb Wadi Al Hidan canyon ride

Wakeskater Brian Grubb has tackled snow streams in Sarajevo and Filipino rice fields during his amazing career on the water, however his latest adventure is the best yet after he travelled to Jordan to take on the mighty Wadi Al Hidan canyon. Here is all you need to know:

– Jordan has five UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Grubb travelled there to water skateboard through the Wadi Al-Hidan canyon in the Valley of Hidan.
– Wadi Al-Hidan is a breathtaking black basaltic canyon with narrow gorges, fresh pools, mesmerising green vegetation and wildlife that feeds into the Dead Sea.
– The American needed help from the local Bedouin people to transport equipment in small boats or by person over the perilous rocks with evenings consisting of traditional Bedouin cuisine and music.
– When Grubb and his crew finally reached their ideal setting, they positioned themselves on top of one of the peaks of the valley where the long wire pulling machine that the 38-year-old athlete would hold on to was installed to launch him across the volcanic rocks.
– When he first hit the water it wasn’t plain sailing as he lost his balance occasionally, nevertheless he righted himself to master the unforgiving terrain of the valley.
– The hardest part was on the final day when the New Hampshire native needed to pass through a tight crack rapidly, which he accomplished brilliantly.
– After completing the extraordinary trip, the former world champion said: “It’s great to be here in Jordan. I never imagined that I could wakeskate right here.”
– Grubb has dominated the scene for years, along with fun projects such as Human Trailers, Urban Assault, Winch Masters, Capital Chaos and Project Blackout.

BOATING INDUSTRY LEGEND, RALPH C.MELOON, PASSES AWAY AT AGE 100

 

Orlando, FL (August 11, 2018) – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of boating hall of fame member and industry icon Ralph C.Meloon at the age of 100.

The middle of three brothers, Ralph C.Meloon was seven years old when his father Walter C. Meloon moved the family from New Hampshire to Florida and started the Florida Variety Boat Company (now Correct Craft) in 1925. Meloon was involved with the company then and continued his involvement until his death.

While upholding the tradition established by his father of “Building boats to the glory of God,” Meloon held many positions at Correct Craft over the years including President, Executive Vice President, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Board. He was instrumental in helping shape Correct Craft for over ninety years. On August 11, at the age of 100, Meloon passed away leaving more than just a memory – he left a heritage that will never be forgotten.

During his tenure,Ralph C.Meloon served in many distinct roles and was instrumental in tracking down and paying all creditors back from the 1960 company bankruptcy. He also established the first grassroots water ski promotional program to pull water ski tournaments in the Midwest and shortly thereafter he developed the first water ski promotional program in the United States. Meloon, known as the face of Correct Craft for decades, traveled to 85 countries for the company building the Correct Craft brand and exporting waterskiing boats all around the world.

In recent years as Correct Craft has grown substantially, including acquiring new companies and entering new markets, Ralph C.Meloon was always encouraging the team. There was no one more excited to see the success of the Correct Craft team than Ralph Meloon.

“Ralph was truly an extraordinary man who always encouraged everyone he met; our team understands that the work we do today was built on his shoulders and we are incredibly saddened by this loss,” state Correct Craft President/CEO Bill Yeargin. “Personally, Ralph was a dear friend. He was always full of encouragement and many times he would pop in my office and say, ‘Betty and I prayed for you this morning, Bill.’ He rarely left my office without saying ‘We love you, Bill.’ As I have traveled the globe for our company, people from all over the world would ask me about Ralph Meloon. So, as we celebrate Ralph’s life, we recommit ourselves to the values that Ralph so embraced; faith, integrity, and family – those are the things that were important to Ralph,” added Yeargin.

Timo Kuppens, an 11 year old accomplished sportsman, who lived his passions at 200km per hour, left too early.

He practiced all the sports, a little trend of the new generations. With a Dad who was a racing driver and distributor of the Brand Tigé Boat for Europe he had many opportunities to try many things.

Wakesurfing and wakeboarding came naturally for him because from a very young age he was able to learn these water sports .
But like all the kids of his age he also played other sports like tennis which he was very good at.
At 11 years old Timo was already an accomplished sportsman. He was just as comfortable behind a boat as he was his dirt bike.
He followed his father, the famous racing driver everywhere. He was his first fan and especially well present during his last title of World Champion at DUBAI in 2013.
With his father Renaud, who was a World Champion speed race driver, and his mother, Isabelle, in the top 10 of the world ranking of Karting drivers you can imagine that little Timo was also naturally a driver.

“With Bindings now they come in all different shapes and sizes. Closed-Toe, Open-Toe, Thick, Stiff, Soft and Velcro. Closed-Toe binding and the most popular right now, the market buying open toe bindings is normally teens or kids with growing feet, so they don’t have to change their bindings every year. The stiff and thicker bindings are based for a rider that is looking for good ankle support and having a lot of response from the binding to board. The thinner softer binding are suited for riders who are looking for a more loose free ride feel and being very flexible in the ankles lets you get low with control a lot easier. I chose to ride with the TAO bindings the softest bindings in the liquid force range. Since I wake skate too when I ride with locked in super tight bindings I feel like I’ve lost my freedom. These bindings are the softest thinnest and lightest.”
