About jaxon Foale

From an early age I had a keen interest in capturing elements of life for my older self. What started as self documentation quickly turned to making videos for friends and eventually, at the end of 2014, delving into my first taste of corporate film. Once I realised I could combine passion and purpose for a profit, I pursued it all guns blazing. This lead to a string of opportunities around the world working with brands such as Sony, Hostelworld, Sunbum, Marriott Resort Hawaii, Busabout Europe/Asia. After 32 countries throughout 3 Years I found myself craving the stability of a base and a refreshed approach. Cue the return home. Now after 6 years honing my craft through the university of life, I’m pursuing to tell the story of others through the voice of film.

By the Mandura Mail’s :Jaxon Foale is a fun and quirky videographer taking the world, and Instagram, by storm with his stunning footage of some of the most incredible places on the planet.Built on a passion for making weekend wakeboarding clips, Jek as he is often known, turned a side hustle into a successful career.

With more than 40,000 followers on Instagram and a dedicated legion of fans of YouTube, Jaxon travels the world making videos for impressive corporate clients from Jetstar Airways to ING Bank.He also runs his own business, Drop Media, has created his own online editing presets and is an above-average surfer.Jaxon is the next profile in the (getting older but still new) Mandurah Millennials on a Mission series, as we meet the young people from around the region helping to shape a new narrative. The series aims to provide an insight into some of the fresh talent who have grown up in our great city, and are just getting started making a name for themselves. At some stages, I’m interviewing him. At many more stages, he’s interviewing me.But it’s a fun back-and-forth of a little bit of serious chat and a lot of laughs about crazy travel stories and adventures. When I told people around town that I was excited to interview Jaxon for my Millennials series, I was lying.Excited didn’t even begin to cover it.As a travel enthusiast myself and budding blogger, Jaxon lives the life I have dreamed of since I was 10 years old and decided I wanted to be a reporter on Getaway.

I could not wait to pick his brain on how to grow an Insta following, how to make those awesome edits on photos and piece together some aesthetically pleasing videos (on a much more basic scale than him, obviously). But I was quick to learn that for every post that appeared fun and adventurous, there were hours of hard work behind the scenes to secure the clients in the first place and perfect the work.

THE MANDURAH MAZDA ACTION SPORTS GAMES PRESENTED BY DRUG AWARE
WAKEBOARD TOURNAMENT SETS EQUAL PRIZE MONEY FOR MEN AND WOMEN

As part of developing equal opportunity for women, the Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware will introduce a professional women’s division in wakeboarding and skateboarding.

This is the first-time females will be back on the water in Mandurah since the IWWF World Cup in 2015 and this year’s event will offer equal prizemoney for both men and women.

Professional female Wakeboard competitor Mackenzie McCarthy said “It is so good to see Mandurah Action Sports Games including a women’s division this year, in conjunction with Wakeboard Australia and WA Wakeboarding recognising the value of equal prize money in both the men’s and women’s divisions. It’s great to be a part of an amazing event”

A newly created women’s division will also be included in the skateboard, scooter and BMX competition which will truly bring equality and diversity to these largely dominated male sports.

Shaun Jarvis, sports manager said, “moving the Action Sports Games back to Mandurah is really exciting and having the event at a world class skate park such as Mandurah gives us the opportunity to expand the skate, scooter and BMX comp over two days and we can now include a girls division”

The Action Sports arena has been predominately a male driven sport over the last 10 years however, that is slowly changing with more and more young girls showing up at skate parks and absolutely shredding the concrete and showing considerable talent.

Event Director Tim Thirsk said,  “I have always been a big fan of women in sports and over the last couple of years have seen quite a few girls taking part in training camps in both wakeboarding, skateboarding, scooter riding and BMX so its about time we created the opportunity for girls to compete in a division that they feel safe, comfortable and included” Thirsk went on, “I can’t wait to see the ladies take to the water and the skate park and showcase their respective talents”.

Originally the event had a big contingent of female wakeboarder coming from Queensland but unfortunately due to the current COVID quarantine restrictions they have had to cancel their fights and accommodation. However, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania will field several female wakeboarders that will come to WA to compete.

The Mandurah Mazda Action Sports Games presented by Drug Aware will combine wakeboarding, freestyle motocross, skateboarding, BMX and scooter events into an action-packed weekend of extreme sports along with fantastic array of international foods.

On Saturday 10 of April, the new world class Mandurah Skate Park will host a major Headspace skateboard and scooter competition with hundreds of competitors from all over WA to compete for over $5000 in cash and prizes.

Plus, there will be some Australia’s best Freestyle Motocross rider such as Brayden Davies putting on an amazing aerial display of adrenalin pumping tricks in the Apex Radiology FMX demonstration. Brayden is pumped up to get back to Mandurah to light up the skies with his insane aerial tricks.

“ I am looking forward to riding Action Sports Games again it is one of my favourite events and have stuck around to put on a show for the people in Mandurah before I head over to the eastern state for a massive run of shows for Freestyle Kings”.

Sunday the 11 April, the Nautique West wakeboarding competition will be held on Mandjar Bay and with both men and women competing for equal prize money so it is going to be an exciting day on the water.

The Action Sports Games is a free event, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the event.

Event Dates : Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March 2020

The Highlights

The six-man final saw seasoned professionals Cory Teunissen (Gold Coast), Callan Starr (Ascot, WA), Shota Tezuka (Shizuoka, Japan) Sam Brown (Thirlmere, NSW), Josh Quartermaine (Cottesloe, WA) and making debut his debut Tom Heatly (Rossmoyne, WA) going head to head and battling it for $15,000 in prize money.

Tournament Director Mike Hogarth called the Action Sports Games Pro Wakeboard Tournament on after a meeting with the riders. “Water conditions improved since the morning and the wind has back off little so we’ll get on the water see how it all plays out” said Hogarth.

Defending champion Shota Tezuka (Jpn) went into the competition as the favourite and started his run impressively with some massive moves however after a couple of falls he knew it was going to be a tough challenge to make a podium finish. “Last year, I felt so confident going into the final and maybe that over confidence pulled me unstuck this year” said Tezuka, adding “the conditions were tough out there on Koombana Bay and when the wind turned that made the water bumpy and difficult to land your tricks”.

Dark horse and local talent, Callan Starr was pretty happy with his flawless run and really pulled out some big moves to place second behind Teunissen.
Starr took on the testing waters of Koombana Bay and wasn’t too fazed by the choppy cross shore conditions. “Coming from WA, I’m pretty use to tough water condition and I love competing in the Action Sports Games so I’m very happy with finishing second as it is fantastic result for me.…thanks heaps Bunbury…I’ll be back” said Starr.

Teunissen is no stranger to the sometimes wild conditions of Western Australia and went into the tournament looking relaxed and confident so he certainly had the water conditions dialled in to suit his style. Checking out the conditions early and seeing what the other competitors had strung together on their runs, Teunissen went to work like a quality tradesman, building on his repertoire of moves. He started out by testing the conditions and once he had that sorted, he was unstoppable. Although Teusnissen was easily the standout of the tournament and the judges were impressed with his solid combinations of tricks, so they rewarded him accordingly.

Taking out first place, Teunissen was ecstatic, “I am so happy to finish first on the podium and, it gives me a lot of confidence going into the rest of year, so really happy I came to Bunbury…its such a beautiful place…I’ll be back that’s for sure”. Teunissen added.

Despite the complicated weather conditions at the beginning of the day, the wind blew away and the event was once again a real success this year. Experienced professionals Nic Rapa (Hawksberry, NSW), Parker Seigle (Tanundra, SA) and Shota Tezuka (Shizuoka, Japan) competed against young Sam Brown (Thirlmere, NSW), Callan Starr (Ascot, WA) and Elliot Digney (Sydney, NSW).

Rapa went into the competition as the favourite and started his run impressively with some massive moves however after a couple of falls he knew it was going to be a tough challenge to finish first.

“Last year, I didn’t event make the podium so I am stoked with 3rd place” said Rapa, adding “the conditions were tough out there on Koombana Bay and when the wind turned that made the water bumpy and difficult to land your tricks”.

Dark horse, Parker Seigle was pretty happy with his flawless run and really pulled out some big moves to place second behind Tezuka.

Seigle took on the testing waters of Koombana Bay and wasn’t too fazed by the choppy cross shore conditions.

“Its been a while since I’ve been back to WA and I love coming here; finishing second is a fantastic result as I haven’t had a podium finish for a while…thanks heaps Bunbury…I’ll be back” said Parker.

Tezuka made his debut in Bunbury this year and was relaxed about the tournament and was keen to test his skills on the beautiful waters of Koombana Bay.

Checking out the conditions early and seeing what the other competitors had strung together on their runs, Tezuka went to work like a quality tradesman, building on his repertoire of moves. He started out by testing the conditions and once he had that sorted, he was unstoppable.

Tezuka was easily the standout of the tournament and the judges were impressed with his solid combinations of tricks so they rewarded him accordingly.

Taking out first place on his maiden trip to Bunbury, Tezuka was ecstatic, “I am so happy to finish first on the podium and its been a long time coming, it gives me a lot of confidence going into the rest of year, so really happy I came to Bunbury…its such a beautiful place…I’ll be back that’s for sure”. Tezuka added.

Final Results:
1st Shota Tezuka (JPN) – 78.89
2nd Parker Seigle (AUS) – 66.67
3rd Nic Rapa (AUS) – 65.00
4th Elliot Digney (AUS) – 63.89
